om Farquharson and Liam Broady were the best of British as they overcame Lewis Burton and George Morgan to win the 2010 boy's doubles championship 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
Nerves seemed to get the better of Broady in the opening game as he gifted the break with a double fault. But he and Farquharson broke back in the sixth game.
Serve was then held up to the tie-break and then Court No.1's Hawk-Eye came in handy for Broady and Farquharson, who successfully challenged two calls as they came from behind in the breaker to win 7-4.
In the second set Broady and Farquharson got the early break and it was left to Farquharson, who remained consistent throughout, to serve out for the title in the 10th game.
Speaking after the match the boys had trouble letting their achievement sink in: "It's kind of surreal, you know," said Broady "You're on court even in the finals and you're match point up and it's kind of like you're still thinking, Can we do this? Can we not? Obviously we got the match point out of the way. Once we did, it just felt awesome."
Farquharson added: "Playing on Court No.1 with all that support, it was, I don't know, just unbelievable."
Liam Broady and Tom Farquharson made Juniors' history by setting up an all-British final against Lewis Burton and George Morgan after beating Mikhail Biryukov and Alexander Rumyantsev 6-0, 6-7(4-7), 6-4.
The British pair looked to be romping home after blitzing the Russians 6-0 in the opening game, but Biryukov, 18, and Rumyantsev, 17, came back from a break down in the second set to win the tie-break 7-4. Farquharson and Broady did not let the comeback upset their resolve as they broke in the first game and held to take the third set.
Speaking about the moment they lost the second set tie-break, Broady acknowledged that it could have been a turning point for their opponents. " In the first set we got off to a really good start again. We obviously had to try and keep it up. I think they improved into the second set and just pipped us by the end of it but I think we did well to get it back by the third."
"I don't think our level dropped that much," Farquharson added, "they raised their level a bit, we had a couple of loose points in the second set and that's enough against a good couple of players like that to lose the set. But I don't think we were down about it, we just kept going the way we were in the first set."
Both players acknowledged the importance of breaking their opponents' serve in the opening game of the third set: "I think it was probably the key," said Broady. "We were a little bit down after losing the second set but we broke them straight away and we were right back up as if we had just won the first set again."
Farquharson explained: "I think the momentum was with them a bit after the second set and I think it was good that we were able to break that first game. It put us back in the driving seat for the match."
Both players were excited about the all-British final: "We're ecstatic that there are two British pairs in the final," enthused Broady, "Good friends and great players as well. It's very exciting."
Farquharson was also looking forward to playing the final on No.1 Court. "We're looking forward to it, such a grand stage," he said, "but we've got to view it as just another match. We've got to go out there and do the business. It's an unbelievable court and environment but nothing's changing in our minds."
