Once you have joined or registered to attend classes, you may book classes online (full/fitness and health members 7 days ahead, non financial members 3 days).  Alternatively, please phone 0161 445 3093.

To attend classes on a "pay as you go" basis, you must FIRST complete the application form

please download and either scan and email to membership@thenorthern.co.uk or hand in to reception.

Pay as you go/non financial members £5.50 a class, Aerobics members £2.00 a class, classes free to full/fitness & health members, and off peak members (during off peak hours).  Off peak members may attend peak time classes for an additional fee of £3.00 a class.

Our Studio Cycling classes use the Keiser M3 bikes

Early morning Studio Cycling class on our Keiser bikes.  7.15am 30 minutes, followed by optional abs and core strength 15 minute workout.

Fitband - Monday's 9.15-10am (with Josie)

A low impact class combining cardiovascular and conditioning, using the resistance bands.

yogAsana - Thursday's 7.15-8.45pm (with Granville)

“yogAsana is not a new form or style of practice . It is a traditional method to still the thought process and open up energy pathways thereby achieving a peaceful and happy state of mind. It is a way of clearing the clouds of the mind so that we can once again bathe in the radiance of our own sunlike mind..”

Yogaflow - Sundays 9.30-10.3am (with Sarah L)

Yoga not only benefits to physical body but also helps to calm to mind, ease stresses and deepen your everyday life. Through yoga flow you can find the connection between the body and the mind to help bring comfort and peace into your life. Learn not only the 'hows' of yoga but the 'whys' too as the teacher gives insights into the effects postures have on your physical body and the reasoning behind each posture. Each week will add another level to your yoga practice with a fun yet insightful class. 

DDMIX - Sundays 11-12 noon (with Bethan)

Created by Darcey Bussell and Nathan Clarke - a brand new full body workout based on a range of different dance styles from around the world, as well as eras, with easy to follow steps.

LASS - due to the popularity of the Saturday morning Studio Cycling classes, we have added an additional 12 noon Studio Cycling class - you can book through the booking system (link on home page), or at reception.

NEW FROM Friday 7th October 2016  C:FakepathBoxercise Bootcamp Landscape (Date) (100 x 70)

Boxercise is based on the principles of boxing, NON-contact and combined with high intensity exercise, for a full body workout...but with a twist!

Learn new boxing techniques doing pad work, improve co-ordination and agility with a challenging, intense workout.  The class also includes core workouts and bodyweight exercises, combined with circuit style training to increase your fitness and fun games throughout the 45 minutes!

Cycling SQT - 45 minutes of Structured Quality Training drills on the indoor bikes to burn calories as well as rapidly improving your strength and fitness

Box-a-circuit - Learn over 8 different punches and many combinations using focus pads – the boxercise work out uses your arms, core and legs. The time flies as you work on body movement, agility and momentum. It’s a great workout, good stress buster, and a lot of fun!

Boxercise - based on the principles of boxing, NON-contact and combined with high intensity exercise, for a full body workout...but with a twist!  Learn new boxing techniques doing pad work, improve co-ordination and agility with a challenging, intense workout.  The class also includes core workouts and bodyweight exercises, combined with circuit style training to increase your fitness and fun games throughout the 45 minutes!

Yoga & Pilates for Athletes - This workout combines ancient Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates moves to build flexibility, balance and supple strength. Breathing control, concentration and structured pose sequences will improve your joint flexibility, range of movement, core strength and focus as well as reduce stress. These benefits will transcend sporting disciplines to improve your performance.

Kettlebell Workout - Using the kettlebells and some ballistic/ swinging movements, you will include both cardiovascular exercise, whilst building strength and improving core strength.

Explosive Interval Training - This class is similar to HIIT but with longer interval lengths and varying recovery periods. This class is taught on the half court which gives extra space for more dynamic and explosive movements. Strength work is also incorporated to elevate your heart rate to its max.  This is an extreme workout so expect to be challenged.

WHAT IS INSANITY?

MumFit is a postnatal exercise class for mothers bringing along infants up to walking age. A combination of light cardio, toning, strength & conditioning for the whole body, focusing on the relevant areas for a new mum. It is a great opportunity to exercise safely, feel good about yourself, meet new mums in your local area: all whilst having fun!
